Instagram Reels & Tik Tok

Reels! Heard of them? If not it’s time to learn…

Reels, in a nutshell is Instagram’s version of Tik Tok. Unless you’ve lived under a rock (or stayed as far away from social media as possible for the past few years) there’s a good chance you’ve stumbled across a video that’s been created in Tik Tok.

Tik Tok is a video sharing social media platform, utilising music, voiceovers and other functions to allow its users to share creative, fun and engaging videos. The platforms even pays ‘creators’ to start viral trends and captivate its audience. Videos are short and snappy which reduce the likelihood of viewers getting bored, and therefore keeping them on the platform for longer!

Fast forward a few months and Instagram (owned by Facebook) of course saw that Tik Tok was making waves across the social media scene. They fast realised that they needed to up their game…or risk falling behind. This is where Instagram Reels came in! Instagram introduced Reels as part of their platform in late 2020 and have been favouring posts created as a reel ever since.

So how can you use these for your business?

1. First things first, start capturing videos! If you’re using social media for your business, statistics show that video content performs well when compared to static images. Any video content that you gather can be put together to create a Reel or a Tik Tok video

2. Utilise the music aspect of Reels & Tik Tok! You may be able to represent your brand tone of voice by opting for different genres of music or choose music which best suits what you’re displaying

3. Can you show a ‘before & after’ transformation for a service you provide or a day to day activity within your business? If the answer is yes then show this! The great thing with Tik Tok & Reels is that video clips can be merged together to create ‘transitions’ which have a great effect when watching the whole video in full

4. Show the personality behind your brand! People want to see YOU - the person or the staff behind the business (because we’re nosey). SO, share a tip, show the behind the scenes, you could even go one step further and copy a trending song or dance!

The bottom line is, Tik Tok & Reels are the new way of promoting your business! If your business relies on social media for sales, it’s time to start adapting and moving where the customer is or risk getting left in the dark ages.

Yes it may seem daunting at first, but you don’t need to be a videographer to produce simple clips that showcase what your business provides.

Download Tik Tok or take a look through Instagram reels today and take inspiration from accounts similar to yours. Good luck!
